Tahith Chong joins Birmingham City on loan subject to league clearance, confirmed by Birmingham City’s official website. The deal came closer to a breakthrough yesterday as Mike Mcgrath from Telegraph had reported. He is the second Dutchman after Juan Castillo to join the Midlands-based club. He will add more quality to Lee Bowyer’s attacking options for the upcoming season.

Chong has been in need of regular game-time like every young footballer. The winger got his first loan move from United last summer to Werder Bremen. After starting strongly for the Bundesliga club by scoring the first goal in his very first competitive appearance for the club, Chong found it hard to establish himself on a regular basis.
The former Jimmy Murphy Player of the year had to cut short his loan spell in January after United felt disrespected in the way of Bremen’s lack of utilization of the player in most of their games. But United’s good relationship with Belgian club Club Brugge helped them facilitate a loan option for Chong in the January transfer window.
In his first interview at St.Andrews, Chong had some enlightening words to say: “I’m excited to get started. Excited to get to know my new teammates and everyone at the Club. I spoke to the Manager here and heard about the plans the Club has for this season and for me as well.”

“He spoke to me about some improvement points and I’m looking forward to working with him. I want to come here and become a better player and develop. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the Championship and to see what it brings.
“I’m a player who likes to get at players, like to dribble and beat players. I’m fast and I’ll try to bring that to the team. I’m looking forward to the season and to meet all the fans. I think I’m even more excited than they are!”
The ex- Feyenoord kid was brought into the club’s academy as a part of Louis Van Gaal’s project at the club. The player will join the club after starting his pre-season training campaign with United and will appear at the Blue’s camp as agreed before the start of SkyBet Championship fixtures.
