Striker, Julian Alvarez could well have played his last game for River Plate already after a season in which he was top scorer in the league.
Manchester United’s alleged interest in signing the South American talent was all over the mainstream media last week but according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Newcastle United are ‘ready to make a super offer’ for the player which is likely related to personal terms, given he has a €20m buyout clause with River Plate.
Despite the interest from the Magpies side, it’s made clear the striker currently has other plans — the 21-year-old striker wants to develop his talents at a top club, and it’s not thought that Newcastle are currently in that bracket as per the Italian publication.
Inter Milan are also said to be in the chase for the 21-year-old’s signature according to the newspaper with agent Fernando Hidalgo flying to Milan in the next few days, but also planning meetings in London.
Manchester United and Newcastle United as well as LaLiga champions Atletico Madrid top the list of the clubs chasing the Argentine’s signature.
Alvarez netted 20 times in 35 outings this season in the Argentine Primera Division and is considered to be among the brightest young talents in South America.
