Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing 16-year-old Stoke City wonderkid Emre Tezgel.
Tezgel featured regularly for Stoke City’s Under-18 side in the 2020/21 season, despite being just 15 as of then.
The 16-year-old scored two goals for his side a couple of weeks ago when they were beaten 4-2 by Manchester United’s under-18 side.
The Burton born has also scored seven goals in just four games for Stoke City’s under-18s side this season including a hat-trick against a Liverpool side.
Now, according to Daily Mail, Stoke are facing a battle to hold onto the teenage striker who has been compared to English and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane amid serious interest from three of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.
Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are the clubs mentioned by the source to be tracking the prolific forward, described by Stoke City’s academy director Gareth Owen as ‘a Harry Kane-type forward.’
Gareth Owen said: “He’s a Harry Kane-type centre-forward. That gets bandied about but his movement is good, he can hold the ball up and he is decent in the air.”
“His main attribute, though, is his finishing and that’s what good centre-forwards have.”
“He plays like a seasoned pro, pulling off at an angle, giving little nudges to the centre-back and making space. It’s great to have that bank of knowledge already at his age.”
Tezgel is currently part of the England under-17 setup and showed glimpses of his potential during the September international break.
