Jadon Sancho finally seems to be joining Manchester United this summer, as recent reports in the media state that an agreement is ‘close’.
To know what’s the current situation about the transfer RIGHT NOW, we caught up with Sascha Klaverkamp, Head of Sport at Lensing Media, who publish @RNBVB — to talk about all the latest details on Sancho’s proposed move to Old Trafford, on Erling Haaland and much more stuff.

Here are some of the important parts from our conversation in the interview:
How close is the Jadon Sancho deal?
It is our information in Dortmund that both clubs are very near the €90m in valuation agreement and this is the money Borussia Dortmund want to get from the sale of Jadon Sancho as they are not far away from fixing the deal and it will just be a ‘question of days’. Sancho is closer to coming to Manchester.
What will be the total structure of the deal?
I think BVB can reach upto around €100m with the deal. €90m is the base money and the rest of the add-ons will depend on how Sancho performs for [Manchester] United and the bosses and club officials at Dortmund will be watching each game with their fingers crossed to see how he contributes and Manchester United will be successful so that Dortmund can earn more money from it.
What changed in the negotiations from last summer compared to this year?
Last summer, BVB did the same as now but they wanted about €120m (nothing below that) and the deadline. I know that some English clubs didn’t believe that BVB would stay hard on this offer but they reacted in the same way before as well with other outgoings at the club. This summer, BVB asked for €90m and the deadline was confirmed as the day before pre-season but the situation and behaviour of BVB officials were the same as last time. I think they knew that Sancho wanted to make the next step in his career. So this is his next step and Jadon wishes to move to Manchester now.
What are replacements that Borussia Dortmund are looking into?
BVB have been planning on this for some time. Donyell Malen is not a top target on this list. The top target as per our information is England international Noni Madueke from PSV Eindhoven. I think there should be more names on the list as well.
Are there plans to bring new players from England as part of BVB’s business model?
Yes, I think so. But not just English talents but also from other countries. Whoever the scouts of BVB see as a potential, they tend to sign them at the age of 15 or 16. This is because most of the young players do not get first team opportunities at senior level or they have to go far to another foreign country on loan where they might not get much success. So BVB has planned more initiatives to make the future look bright. And I think they can use the money from the Sancho deal for three new players with such potential to compete in the league. BVB plays in the Champions league and these young players will get expertise from professionals at the first team level and get more minutes under their belt. Unlike the rich owners like the Abramovich, Glazer family and the Qatar Sheikhs, BVB have to use a creative plan to build a highly competitive team using their business model.
What is the latest on Erling Haaland?
In our opinion, Haaland will leave next summer and stay here for now. BVB won’t sell both players in one summer at the same time because these two players are game changers and are important to their progress. Only a few players can play on this level. And according to our information, Haaland will definitely stay this summer and as you said, he might leave next summer using the release clause of €80m on his contract and we are starting to think that this will probably happen next summer.
Are there any links to Bellingam and which top clubs are looking at him?
Every scout/official doing a good job for their respective clubs, must have had him on their list because BVB took Bellingham from the second division league in England. And even journalists like us were shocked to see a purchase of €20m for a young player like him and one year later we understood that he was a top and amazing talent. We asked Axel Witsel a few days back about his involvement and he said that Jude reminds him of a younger Axel Witsel who is a box to box player, part of every dangerous situation, never give up attitude, etc. And he is also just 18 years old.
How much do you rate Germany’s chances of winning Euros and Sancho starting the next game for England?
I have watched Sancho for more than 3 years and I’m hoping to see him play soon in this tournament. If England starts him for the game against us, Sancho would mix up the German defence. He is good at one on one situations, dribbles well, turns up at a good pace and also uses both feet to control the ball. He is the one who can make the German team really really angry. Southgate has a very key player in his hand. I don’t think Germany will win this tournament and England has a better chance to qualify. And if England are not stepping up to their best level then France and Italy are the favourites to win this. Even though Wembley has been a good place for England with fans, Germans will go with respect and no fear to face them in this round.
What was the reaction of Borussia Dortmund fans compared to other Germans when Sancho didn’t start?
The people at Dortmund were very confused and surprised to know what was happening there. These fans see Sancho every week. And looking at the current English squad, they were really not happy with the way the current team is trying to score goals because Sancho was a pain for 5 to 6 defensive players in the teams that played in Bundesliga especially the top ones. They see Sancho as a very important player and fans think that Southgate doesn’t see any games happening outside the Premier League to spot players for his squad.
